sin & bondage

Are strongholds keeping you in a life of sin and bondage?  Are they holding you back, stopping you from being all that God wants you to be and needs you to be in order to build His kingdom?

If you answered yes to these questions, I want to tell you that you already have what you need to resist their calls, lures and temptations.  That is, of course, if you are a child of God.

Remember how good you felt when you first accepted Christ?

I certainly do.  I was going to be God's favorite girl!  I was going to spend all of my life seeking to please Him.  I felt invincible.

However, after some years, I found myself doing things that I never thought I would do, or doing things that I had left behind years ago.  I was devastated with myself and wondered, "How could this be?"  I was doing that which I didn't want to do.

No one, not even Jesus, is exempted from the calls, lures and temptations of sin and bondage. But like Jesus, anyone who is a son or daughter of the Most High has everything that they need to resist the calls, the lures and the temptations.  We just have to use what's been given to us: the Holy Spirit

Jesus has liberated us from sin remember?  We have been set free! God has broken the sin yoke over us, we just have to walk in this truth!

I want to challenge you to examine yourself and your life.  Identify what strongholds have you in bondage.  Now in prayer, ask God to release the stronghold that has gripped your heart.  Remember these two things though:

  1. ask in faith, believing He will do it
  2. know that it will not be easy
God will continually work to set us free from sin and bondage, but it is our responsibility to say, "No," to sin when it raises it's head to come our way.

We must allow the Father to provide for us what our soul craves.

"It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery." ~ Gal. 5:1
