Releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name {Two post today}

For many years I've wanted to do foreign missionary work.  But for one reason after another, I always had things that came up, prohibiting me from experience my dream and taking action.

At this point in my life now, I am finally seeing God slowly moving in my desire.  I must say that, He is moving in a new and very different way.  From the comfort and safety of my home, I am able to sit at my computer, write to you and share my hearts desire of wanting to help children ocean miles away.

The video that I am choosing to share with you today is a "webisode from Missions in Actions highlighting children in poverty where Compassion works."


Dear friend, just like me, you have a voice and a sphere of influence.  You may not be able to jump on a plane to go help a child in impoverished circumstances, but Your God and their God has given you a way to help them in the name of Jesus.


Today, please slow down.  You can start by slowing down long enough to watch this video and then help someone.  Help someone who is less fortunate than you.

    Angela - thank you so much for sharing this. I loved reading about your heart for missions and how you are allowing God to use you even though, right now, you are not directly in the mission field. Thank you for using your voice to speak up for children in poverty. It is powerful!

    Bri — thank you so much for responding.  So many people don't respond when I share this story.  I almost didn't share because the quiteness is so loud when I post about Compassion, but it it my heart and I love it so.

Elisabeth Elliot update {7-01-2012}

Many of you have inquired about injuries that Lars Gren and his wife Elisabeth Elliot Gren sustained in their car accident.  As of June 14, 2012: Lars is in Ma., staying with friends since he is not able to drive til Aug. per Valerie.  He fractured a c-2 in his neck and had surgery for a screw to be fused to the bone, and is not getting as well, as quickly as he'd liked. Lars and Valerie had to make the decision to put Elisabeth in a facility because Val could no longer care for her. Elisabeth's stay in the facility will be brief, as Val plans on taking her back to Ma, once she returns from the UK {Val is helping her daughter Elisabeth with her 4th baby}. For those of you who would like to send Elisabeth well wishes, I have her mailing address, just e-mail me and I will give it to you. The wives of the five American missionaries who were speared to death speak {and more pictures of Valerie Elliot Shepard & her family}. Keeping their story alive!

I n January 1956 the world was shocked when learning that five American missionaries had been speared to death in the Equardorian jungles by the Auca Indians who were reported, at that time, to be the most savage tribe on earth.  "What seemed to all the world like a tragic ending of the missionaries' dream to reach this isolated tribe was only the first chapter of one of the most breathtaking missionary stories of the twentieth century" In the video below the wives of the five men speak of their husbands.
