God is Able

Image
Today is the day that we began our new fall session with our (in)courager groups.  My group is called Gateway to Joy , of course.  The group will close when it reaches 30 women, right now we have 27!  Maybe God is holding that spot for you sister.  Why don't you go here  and see if this is for you. Today I want to talk about 'God is Able.'  That is the title of Priscilla Shirer's new book.  She's starting something new at her blog, Going Beyond , that I am really looking forward to participating in.  Here's what she's doing: Do you have a God is able story that you can share? I would love to hear it! I shared one of my stories yesterday in the comment section over at Going Beyond, but last night my husband and I were driving to our house from Starbucks and he remembered something that I'd forgotten. He said, "Angie do you remember before we moved to this neighborhood you had to bring one of the girls over here for Girl's Scout and...

Lifeway woman: Kelly Minter

H ello girls! I have a message for you from Lifeway Women: "The Beth Moore James Facebook  party that we all helped launch was a huge success." And they thank those of us who promoted the live webcast party! Now they have something else for us, what, you ask? They want us to gear up again for a second Facebook launch party for a new Bible study, "Living Room Series Bible study, Nehemiah, A heart that can break." The party is Feb. 1, 2012 at 11:11 a.m CST. There will be live fun again! Paige Greene will host the webcast with Kelly and they are going to have special guest appearances, including Lisa Harper and by Skype, Beth Moore. Kelly will share on the live webcast her heart about the study, her heart for missionary work, and a cooking segment. If any of you would be interested in helping us spread the word, you can do one of the following: 1.  post on your blog and invite people to the party 2.  post on your Facebook about the party, and ...

James: Mercy Triumphs. Day one

Image
I know I'm behind!  There seems to always be something to do.  I'm slow, I know, but I'm striving to be steady :-) Y'all what I appreciate with Day One of this study, "James: Mercy Triumphs" is how Beth has focused on the human side of Jesus.  Letting us see Him as a brother, a Son, a neighbor, speaking of neighbors and the the neighborhood. For me this helps me accept James and his message even more because in this way, I see him as the brother of Jesus.  I see him living with Him.  Sharing tender brother moments. He knew Jesus as brother, and still accepted Him as his Lord. Many times it's hard for the people in our household to accept our message , regardless of the truth of that message because "they know us."  They see how we function. So Beth introducing the family setting like this first, sets the stage for me to accept James' message. That's it for now.  That's what I got from Day One. See you manana! xo,...

Beth Moore, James Mercy Triumphs

Image
Y'all I am so EXCITED! I just received my free copy of Beth Moore's latest Bible study, James Mercy Triumphs, and I can't wait to dig in and share with you all what I am learning. I think for the next several weeks I am going to use this in my quiet time and share with you all what God is teaching me. Before I move on I want to share with you a quote that I saw in this study.  Actually it isn't a quote, I'm quoting Beth.  I am tempted to say that I "accidentally" saw this when I was moving the book because it just fell open to this particular page and I was about to close it, when "something" said, " Don't. Look down.  Read." These are the words I read: Have the courage to live under strain and pain to be part of a better story.  A larger story.  Don't wimp out. Wow.  That's scary.  I just told my friend that I didn't want to do a particular thing because I didn't want to go through the pain.  The pai...

Purposefully feminine

Ladies you really don't want to miss this video!   I'm just going to be honest with those of you who don't listen or have not listened to some of the videos that I've posted:  YOU REALLY ARE MISSING OUT! HONESTLY .  I am not in anyway putting videos up for the sake of putting up a video. I'm not even trying to get you to like someone that I like.   I put the videos up because I know your stories.  I talk to you... on the phone, skype, emails and you tell me your hardships, your difficulties. Yes.  I know your story and some of them are my stories.   The   videos that I put on this blog addresses our stories in one way or another!   God uses the stories and the experiences of one to help another, that's why I put the videos up.  We are all very similar and like minded so I know if I'm helped, more than likely you will be helped too! I am now hearing from so many of you until I can no longer get to all of you.  I'...

The Resolution for Women live discussion with Priscilla Shirer...continuing our discussion on contentment

Image
Watch live streaming video from goingbeyondministries at livestream.com Instead of writing something else about this book, I decided to share with you all the not so live, livestream, so that you, too, can listen to the discussion that Priscilla and the other two women in the broadcast discussed. They hit on many topics that we women, married and single, struggle with. We may all be different, but we suffer like things. I don't know about you, but so often I go through life wanting to get to the next thing...the next phase, and in looking back I see how due to my discontentment I've missed out on a lot.  Sometimes it's only in looking back that I see how far I have gotten and how some of the very things I longed for were with me.  I see friend that God truly was and always is faithful toward me. He does know exactly what He's doing. Please, please, stop where you are for a moment.  Take a deep breath... slow down and be here.  Right here in this moment a...
